Where is GTA 6 set? A quick guide to Leonida
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida. The state is one big landmass. The forests and hills of Mount Kalaga National Park are in the north, with a large inland lake and the sugar town of Ambrosia below them. Port Gellhorn sits on the west coast, and Vice City spreads along the east coast with its beach districts on barrier islands. The Grassrivers wetlands cover the south, and the Leonida Keys curve away as an island chain.

“Everything in Excess”
Vice City
Leonida’s neon-lit metropolis on the southeast coast and the heart of GTA 6.
- Rockstar’s tagline for Vice City is “Everything in Excess”. It calls the city the sun and fun capital of America, where the glamour, hustle and greed of the country meet.
- Ocean Beach is the area with pastel art deco hotels and white sand beaches.
- Little Cuba is known for its busy panaderías (bakeries).
- The Tisha-Wocka flea market is where bootleg brands are sold.
- VC Port is billed as the cruise ship capital of the world.

Leonida Keys
A chain of tropical islands curving away from the mainland: boats, bars and dangerous water.
- Rockstar calls the Keys the “Gateway to Paradise”: a place where the dress code is casual and the bars are full.
- They sit right next to what Rockstar describes as some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in America, which hints at smuggling and crime at sea.

Grassrivers

How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar hasn’t published an official size. Community mapping of the trailers puts Leonida at about 125 km² of land, roughly 2 to 2.7 times GTA 5 and bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2.

Is there an official GTA 6 map?
Not yet. Rockstar has confirmed six places in Leonida (Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park) but hasn’t released a full in-game map. Our map shows them in an approximate layout and switches to verified in-game positions after launch on November 19, 2026.
Where is GTA 6 set?
In Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida. Its biggest city is Vice City (Miami). The map also covers the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn on the west coast, inland Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park in the north.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
There’s no official figure. Community mapping of the trailers estimates about 125 km² (~48 sq mi) of land, roughly 2 to 2.7 times GTA 5 and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2.
What are the counties in GTA 6?
Community analysis of official footage points to six counties: Vice-Dale (Vice City), Leonard (northeast), Ambrosia (central), Kelly (west coast), Mariana (Grassrivers and the Keys) and Lummox (the north, a leaked name). Turn on the Counties layer to see them.
What do Official, Reported and Community mean on the map?
Official places are named by Rockstar. Reported places were spotted in official trailers or signage by the community. Community names come from leaks or fan mapping and may change. You can filter by each.
Does the tracker save my progress?
Yes. Tick any location and it’s saved in your browser on this device, with no account needed. Use “Hide explored” to see only what’s left, or “Random spot” for somewhere new.
When will collectibles and stores be added?
From launch day, November 19, 2026. We’ll add collectibles, stores, safehouses and vehicle spawns as each one is verified in-game.
How much does GTA 6 cost?
The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Every pre-order includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Is GTA 6 on PC?
Not at launch. GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no PC version has been announced yet.
